Served as Owner, Editor and Publisher for a small business publishing one regional print magazine.

Claims Assistant  

Served as Claims Assistant of independent insurance adjusting firm for one of eight branch offices throughout Kentucky , responsible for all administrative support of that branch and computer support of the entire company.

 Provided basic administrative support for the Lexington branch office, including intake, setup, closing/billing and all secretarial support of claims, transcription of reports, letters, recorded statement summaries and handling of various confidential documents.  Performed continued computer usage and knowledge on a daily basis, including design and upkeep

of company website and repair and help support for all hardware and software issues in the company.  Continually cultivated detail-oriented public and business relations with all clients and the public.

Communications Coordinator

Served as Communications Coordinator for a non-profit state trade association, responsible for all internal and external communications, writing and publishing of bi-weekly and bi-monthly newsletters, media relations, design and upkeep of association website, legislative coordination, committee liaison and event planning.

Designed, wrote, coordinated and readied for print a 12 – 16 page bi-monthly newsletter with a nationwide circulation of over 500, and a 1 page bi-weekly newsletter with a circulation of over 350.  Cultivated new and existing sponsorship for newsletters.  Wrote press releases, legislative calls to action and member correspondence as needed.  Designed and was responsible for the upkeep of the association website.  Assisted in planning and coordination of the regional legislative meetings, the association quarterly meetings and annual convention.

 Key Achievements

¨      Increased traffic to the association website by redesigning layout and content, and upgrading on a daily basis to keep current as the industry deemed.

¨      Increased traffic to the association website by changing the domain name to a more attractive and more marketable name.

¨      Designed, developed and produced the bi-weekly newsletter program to keep members informed of the current industry issues.

¨      Implemented, planned and coordinated, with the Executive Director, regional legislative meetings at various locations around the state.

¨      Designed association portion of Severe Storm Awareness Month program to be used state-wide in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Association and the Red Cross.

 THE HOME DEPOT, INC. #2303 Lexington , KY                                                                        1997 – 2001

Installed Sales Expeditor

 Served as Installed Sales Expeditor for a high volume fast-paced retail home improvement outlet, responsible for all special orders, installations for the Millwork Department and special difficult customer service.

 Placed, followed up and expedited all special orders and installations.  Coordinated all installations and installers for the Millwork Department (and previously other departments), as well as on-the-floor sales experience.  Responsible for on-the-spot problem solving, trouble-shooting and detail-oriented customer service.  Maintained fine negotiating and acted as liaison between vendors, installers, customers and managers.

 Key Achievements

¨      Developed and implemented employee morale programs including family outing planning, employee participation theme days and in-store events and holiday parties complete with employee talent shows.

¨      Designed, developed, implemented and wrote a bi-weekly employee newsletter for dissemination of current information, employee recognition, humor and other morale-building tools, as well as submitting store information to company-wide publications.

¨      Achieved above-average knowledge and training by becoming the only female in the store and one of only 5% in the entire company to be a Millwork specialist.

Originator and Sponsor of Two Proclamations

Originated and sponsored two proclamations eventually passed and signed by Mayor Teresa Isaac and the City of Lexington :  “Conflict Resolution Week” for October 15 – 21, 2006 and “Conflict Resolution Day” for October 20, 2006 .

Dispute Resolution Intern

Served as Intern in the Dispute Resolution Department as credit towards completing a Master’s degree in Dispute Resolution.

 Observed BBB Autoline Arbitration processes and general consumer-business Mediation processes.  Performed four (4) general mediation processes as a co-mediator with a BBB staff member.  Analyzed numerous open files and made numerous calls to complaintant consumers and businesses to gain additional information and/or facilitate resolution.  Observed Jefferson County Small Claims Court on two (2) occasions as background research for a community mediation project.
